Batesville, Indiana - May 31 - June 2, 2015

May 31, 2015

Welcome to Batesville

Bev couldn’t stand the motorhome being so dirty, so set out to do some cleaning.  With the close quarters and two cats, it doesn’t take long for it to get bad.  The good news is that it doesn’t take too long to get it back in shape.

Rich & Sue Pignotti with Tyra

Late morning, we headed into Columbus, Indiana, to visit the Pignotti’s.  They are friends that lived in Dallas, neighbors of Bev’s daughter, Shannon.   They moved to Indiana about two years ago, so looked forward to seeing them and their yellow lab, Tyra.  Tyra is 14 and like many of us, is slowing down a bit.  She is as cute as ever, though.

Rich & Sue took us to nearby Nashville, Indiana.  It is a small town with many shops with tons of interesting inventory.  We didn’t buy, but did a lot of looking.  Also, stopped for some lunch at “Out of the Ordinary”.  We had great Spinach Artichoke Soup.
We headed back to Sue & Rich’s for cocktails and a BBQ.  Sue is a great cook, Rich is a great bartender and great at the grill.   We had a wonderful visit.

We had a day to just relax.  That should have been ideal, however, we couldn’t get Direct TV.  That is a bad day.  We even had success in getting a DirecTV technician out to the motorhome.  He couldn’t help us since he said it was our satellite dome on the coach.  Needless to say that was not the answer that Stan wanted.
Needless to say, we went to bed early.

We were facing another TV less day.  Oh my.  After trying several things, the TV came on – DirecTV and all.  Who knows what that is all about.   Stan was a happy camper.

Bev tried out her Shark steamer on the floors and did some general straightening up.  She tried once again to figure out her blog.   Still frustrated.

We met Rich & Sue Pignotti for dinner in Greensburg.  It is the last time we will get to see them before we leave in the morning.

Greenwood Courthouse

When we were in Greensburg, we noticed that on the top of the courthouse there was a tree.  Sue did some research.---- This is what she found.
“I talked to my neighbor Brenda (the one with the store) and she told me she actually graduated high school from Greensburg High.  I asked her about the tree in the courthouse building and she said it has always been there and no one knows how it happened or how it survives.  There is a tradition in Greenwood that when you graduate from fifth grade you get a leaf from that tree.  But she doesn't know how they get the leaves.”
